Top 10 Spring Summer Fashion Trends of 2020

Let’s dive into the trends so these are going to be what I think is the most wearable. The most versatile trends. There are a lot of trends you know there’s like major trends, micro trends. I’m just gonna give you ten. Why I want to do this is because I feel like it’s important for me to deliver that information. Number one you don’t have to deal with the research because I knew you’re busy and you don’t have time. And number two you could be a smarter shopper. So when you go out to shop you see something on the rack and you’re confused by it. Let’s start

Printed Suits

The first trend is printed suits, now printed suits are definitely not the most wearable truth to start out with. The reason I wanted to highlight this one is that I wanted to talk about suiting in general. So suits matching the suits a whole set is very very on-trend. And not just you’re typical like black, grey, Nav Pinstripes suits colors like yellow, like read these bright vibrant colors. Because many of you have office jobs you love to wear suits you feel like you can tackle and conquer the world in a suit. This is your moment to shine because not only can you wear those power suits but you can wear them in bold colors.

And you can wear them in cool prints how awesome it is that. I just thought it was important to bring that up for those of you working in that office. But also you know what else is cool about a suit you can wear them on special occasions. Printed suits, bold colored suits are all very on-trend and one of the micro trends. I just wanted to mention in the suit category our suit Blazers and suiting blazers jackets. They’re not so tapered at the knee they’re more of a straight leg and even like fitted like scuba shorts.

Drama

The second trend I want to talk about is drama. So one of my favorite sayings is I love drama with my clothes, not in my life. It’s so fun I love it it’s expressive, it’s creative, it’s how you can have fun. It’s meant to be fun so drama is very on-trend. What do I mean by that I mean big giant sleeves some that are shaped like seashells? There are these giant ruffles and strong shoulders and tears and layers over-the-top. Drama with your clothes more drama the better basically.

Utility

The third trend is a modern utility that is sort of a military-inspired trend. It can be cargo pants or a trench coat usually marked by more military-style colors like khakis and beiges. And these giant oversized pockets cargo pockets so you know the cargo pants from the giant oversized pockets. Like that’s a very on-trend but you can find versions of that. That is super feminine I found these really cool Jonathan pants. That is wide-leg with the giant oversized pockets and this khaki color and the fact that it has this really wide-leg silhouette.

And this really tiny waist that’s high rise so feminine the shape of the pants is so feminine and cool modern. But here you are with this khaki pant with these giant oversized pockets so it doesn’t have to be this traditional like military-inspired piece. It can have feminine touches to it. So just to be thinking in the back your mind about that utility trend which is these really earthy tones khakis beiges and also those big pockets. Nothing will edge up your look quicker than wearing a cargo inspired piece or a utility-inspired piece.

Polka Dots

Next, I want to talk about one of the most popular prints for the season this is a beautiful print. That’s so versatile, that’s so wearable, that’s so ladylike, that’s so elegant polka dots. There are big ones, little ones they’re very classic, very elegant and that’s the thing you know a lot of times. There’s a trend I almost hesitate to call it a trend because it’s always in fashion. But the beauty of when something classic is now a trend. It becomes so much easier to find you can find it everywhere from Target to Zara to Nordstrom to wherever. It’s across the board and that’s the beauty of having a classic print like polka dots. Suddenly become a trend you’re now gonna be able to find like polka dot skirts, polka dot blouse, poking out shorts, polka dot belts, poke it up punks.

You know poke it up everything and that’s the other thing like maybe if you want to try one of these trends. But you don’t want to go all-in you can always start small dip your toe into the trend, not the whole foot. You know what I mean not the whole body so you could do like an accessory pair of shoes, handbag, earrings, necklace even like a nail you could. You poke it out nail polish you know there are a variety of ways that you can just play around with it in a small way. That doesn’t feel so committed and might feel simpler and easier for you.

Scarf Prints

The next trend is another print and this print is not quite as classic. It’s a scarf print it’s a fabric that looks like a scarf like a silk scarf. But in a blouse trouser skirt dress form, this is probably one I will not be jumping on because I am NOT hugely inspired by crazy prints. But maybe that’s your style maybe you have this really bohemian eclectic spirit and that really speaks to you. You should try it this is such a cool moment in fashion to really you know to jump on the print bandwagon. I have talked about wearing prints before and you’re a print phob you know what I mean. Like you have a fear of prints what I recommend is picking one piece and keeping everything else neutral and quiet.

So if you have that polka-dotted skirt or that scarf print skirt you know to wear it with a really simple white blouse or white t-shirt. Wear it with some nude pumps or some nude wedges keep everything else neutral. And that’s how you can skillfully and artfully wear prints. When you don’t feel like super comfortable wearing prints. The other great thing about the scarf print is it’s perfect for like the beach vacations or the pool parties this summer.

Feathers

The next trend is feathers. I feel like I’ve been talking about feathers for a couple of years but they’re still on Triumph. There’s still a very big deal and feathers are an interesting trend. Because I don’t know like how do you wash a feather skirt right or how do you wash a feather table. I don’t know I feel like that would be hard to take care of but how I interpret that trend is I’ll get a pair of feather earrings. I have a couple of pairs of feather earrings and that’s an easy way that you can do this one without having to worry about caring for the cloths.

Because I’m sure that most of the feather pieces are gonna be dry clean only. But let’s say you have a wedding to go to or special occasion and you want to wear something really unique that’s a standout. That is very fashion-forward why not pick up a feather cocktail dress. Like how cool it is that you’ll definitely stand out. You know in a sea of just regular dresses like a feathered skirt dress so beautiful right so cool.

Fishnet

The next trend is fishnet when we think of fishnet we typically think of stockings. But this season fishnet is everywhere can be skirted to be swim cover-ups it could be a blouse sweater. It’s just a really cool modern texture that will add a lot to your look. So if you want to do something monochromatic like all white or all beige or all pink all black and you add that cool texture in there that fishnet texture. And basically it’s like mesh but like just bigger holes it’s the same concept of as mesh just some larger squares that’s gonna add a lot of impact to your look. And how I would do it if you’re not sure about those this feels very strange to you.

I would do a swim cover-up because I think a fishnet swim cover-up can be really modern and edgy and fun and also not too crazy. Do you know what I mean like it doesn’t feel too crazy or just a really cool little summer bag that would be a nice way to go about this trend? As well if you want to see some of the fishnet for yourself because it’s still like kind of a head-scratcher.

Color Blocking

The next trend is color blocking and I feel like this is another one that we’ve been talking about for a while. But it’s just taken some different forms or shapes as the case may be this season. A dress with like squares or rectangles or diamonds on it in a contrasting color and then also there are some really unusual color combinations. So this is one way that if you want to mix and play around with different color combinations unique color combinations color blocking is a way to do that where you don’t have to think about it. It’s already done for you its kind of like the roofers the two-in-ones. You know the already been layered sweater or jacket the color-block dress gives you that cool color contrast and color combination without any of the heavy lifting.

So that’s the beauty of it and also color blocking is one of my favorites in terms of placements. That’s how you can really use color blocking strategically to help you look slimmer.

Metallics

Other color trends I want to talk about metallics still going strong and kind of the new metallic on the block is a blush metallic. So it’s this really beautiful light pink metallic and then you’ve got pale blue that’s another new color. The old new color looks like I’ve seen it in a while. That’s still you know going into this year a lot of lemon yellow too but blue is the new one.

Neutral

Another one is Neutral and also beige this really beautiful almost skin color. This is very on-trend and not just like one piece but like from head to toe. Let me tell you it’s dreamy it’s such a dreamy combination when I went to Dallas recently I was able to connect with a bunch of other bloggers. And one of the bloggers her name is Becky her blog is called salad Jane and she mixes neutrals like nobody I’ve seen. It’s like all beige in white I love it. It’s such a beautiful color palette as if I could just live and swim in like blush and beige and camel and white.

I just love that I love it that’s my jam makes me happy. It’s just a beautiful color and I love that this has become so popular. And it can be aging and so beige is a great alternative neutral to that black that can be harsh.

Neon

If you want to have at it and there are ways to do it elegantly. I would suggest if you’re gonna do it like maybe a bright yellow or bright neon sweater lightweight with like a pair of white high-rise wide-leg trousers. I think that would be gorgeous you could even tuck the sweater in a little bit with the trouser. Or maybe you do that beautiful yellow neon sweater with like a white pencil skirt and nude pumps or metallic pumps like that would be really pretty and elegant. So for sure, there are ways you can do it without being like full-on or with like you know fingerless gloves but just be strategic about it.

Because where you place that neon is where all of the attention is going to go so if you have it up here that’s where it’s the eyes gonna go. If you have it on the bottom which is most of our problem areas certainly if you’re a triangle shape you have bigger hips button thighs you put neon on your bottom half. That’s gonna make that whole area look bigger so just be careful about where you’re placing the neon.
